My finished print! “Diversity is Beautiful”

“Diversity is Beautiful” is a 3-block, 8-layer Mokuhanga (Japanese Woodblock Print) effort, utilizing Bokashi and Mokume techniques. The print celebrates the beauty of the Holbein watercolors’ interaction on the sturdy and beautiful Shiramine 110gsm paper, a Kozo blend. The print size is 8.25” x 5” (21 x 13cm) on traditional chuban sized paper (10 x 7.5 in / 25.4 x 19.1 cm).

Working primarily in relief and intaglio printmaking, Monique Wales' artwork is largely nature-inspired, particularly by the magnificent mountain areas in and around Yosemite, her home, and throughout the Western United States. She hopes to impart to her audience the importance of wild spaces and shine a light on their increasingly threatened inhabitants. Love how you used the Mokuhanga technique to produce such a lovely and ethereal image! The overlapping and transparent color work beautifully together.
