I just returned from two weeks in Iceland, working on two different print projects. In Olafsfjordur a small town in the north, four faculty members from Monterey Peninsula College taught a clay printing workshop for students at MTR, and upper secondary school with an arts focus. MTR and MPC are working on an exchange project this year called The Shared Seas, which is committed to strengthening connections through art.
In Reykjavik, San Francisco Bay Area printmaker Carrie Ann Plank and I gave a a talk to members of Islensk Grafik, on trends in Bay Area printmaking. This is in support of an exchange exhibition planned for late 2017 in San Francisco and 2018 in Reykjavik.
The Icelandic printmakers will join us again this year for Print Day in May. Watch for their posts on May 6!
