Print Day in May in the Bronx and Jane’s walk

This will be the third year that Print Day in May, Jane’s Walk and THE POINT  join together in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the South Bronx for a day of printmaking, education, and citizen walking tour extravaganza.

Jane’s Walk is named after writer and urban activist, Jane Jacobs. Her work in the 1960’s,  subverted a city plan that would have ruined Greenwhich Village.  The walk will be led by Carey Clark and Aaliyah Daniels from THE POINT. This is a grassroots arts-based community center whose practice is defined by a premise that ART is THE credible messenger for making change through the talents of our neighbors and young people on the fronts of environmental and social justice.

Jane’s Walk will culminate at THE POINT’s Campus with a printmaking workshop for Print Day in May led Bronx based artist Tammy Wofsey, whose work is shaped by her dreams and commitment to the environment.

This is just the type of thing that we had in mind when we started Print Day in May! Community coming together over a love of printmaking and the arts. I’ll be in NYC in August. May I come visit?
