Buzz in the Bindweed

My lovely old cat spent his last summer curled up and wriggling in a patch of bindweed under a vine in the garden. He was a handsome chap and supervised my studio for me and only demanded constant attention and food. I thought he would make a good print.

Buzz ready to supervise visitors to my open studio event last May

I usually make prints of the local scenes or wildlife from the Brecon Beacons in Wales, U.K. My prints sell fairly well and this one might seem a bit sentimental but it’s personal to me.

I usually design my reduction linocut prints using different tones of blue acrylic. It allows me to sort out the tones for each of the layers of printing without getting too involved with colours at this stage.

The final design

I cut the first part of the reduction print yesterday and started printing today. I’m hoping to print the final layer on Saturday the 4th. I’ll post pictures of the different layers that went into the final print then.
