Preparations for Improvisation

Hello from Ruth Ander in Bristol, England. I’ll be going back to my roots tomorrow, improvising with mono-print and collograph, hand burnishing everything- which is how I started on the kitchen table many years ago. I spent a happy hour or two this afternoon digging out old monoprints and ‘cut-outs’ to make small prints tomorrow based on Spanish gardens- a little project I’ve been meaning to do for a while- good to have constraints and deadlines! I’m essentially very low-tech on the technique front, but not necessarily simple. I’ll be in my tiny studio in the back garden of my terraced house and thinking of everyone else printing at the same time in isolation but together!

I specialise in printing at home, by hand. My usual techniques are monoprint, drypoint etching and collage (often all at the same time!)
