Hello from Tapan Madkikar, to all Printmakers from all over the world and wish you a very Happy Print Day !!!
Due to the pandemic and increased Lock Down, i was not actually printing from my house but i was working sketches and creating some Matrix.
But, today, on the occasion of World Print Day, I decided to start printing and set up my press again.
I had shared my one design and a matrix in my previous post, the one from an ongoing series of multiple female figures, same i have continued with, by taking first coloured relief impression on my exisiting Etching work.
The same i have continued with, by taking first coloured relief impression on my exisiting Etching work.
I decided to combine intaglio and relief together this time, as i have never done that before. First, I took an impression of a figure in Etching and Aquatint Technique and decided to do the coloured frame in A relief Technique.
So i created a block on a sun board, from which i am going to take all colours by using a reduction process. Today, on the occassion of Print Day, i have started relief process and taken my first coloured impression.
Due to lack of the space, i have set up my press and all other things in my home itself. Adjusting them in different rooms, managing my work in Printmaking. Earlier I had one place taken on rent, where i could even work on Etching too. But i had to surrender that place so shifted evrything at home, so working in acid, is quite difficult.
Somehow i have managed to work with relief technique and so i started completing this series of figures.
I am working on a series having multiple female figures, representing an Indian Culture from the different parts of the country. India has got tremendous verity in its culture so trying to symbolise it from their appearance and the specialty of their region.
I will be adding 4 to 5 more coloured impression in this work to get a final impact as per my sketch. And there will be around 10 to 15 different female figures in this entire series.
Here is my impression taken on World Print Day.
The Prints are taken on Fabriano Rosapina White 220 GSM paper and the image size is 11.5×8.5 inches.
Wish you all Happy Printing !
