The Alchemist, Wizard’s Reading Night

Wizard’s Reading Night is a bit of a not-quite-hidden-object piece. I worked in reading night treats, companions, and bric-a-brac; what reading night is complete without a mug of tea and snacks? Wizard is a companion piece to The Alchemist (my completed print.)

I kept adding another detail… and then another… until the hours I had today were consumed with just transferring the print, prepping the plate, and just getting into the carving. A hundred tiny books really consumes time in the transferring!

Materials: masa paper, Cranfield Safe Wash inks, gold watercolor, Blick Battleship Gray linoleum, and Pfiel tools from Jackson’s.

I’m not solely a fantasy artist; I enjoy a variety of subjects (and mediums).

I'm a lover of multiple disciplines, and printmaking lets me exercise a completely different mindset than my painting. There's so much to love! The designing, the carving, the mixing, that peel. Still working towards an online storefront, and currently selling through local galleries. I make prints of... plants, cats, fantasy subjects, landscapes, animals... it's fun translating just about anything to print!
