I’ve been experimenting with polymer photogravure, bringing in color by printing the intaglio plate on top of an inkjet printed background. This latest print combines an image of the recent solar eclipse with a photo of an arctic iceberg, a photomontage reminiscent of a dream. Printed at Shepherd & Maudsleigh Studio in Newton, MA, USA.

Ralph Robinson
Ralph Robinson currently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He makes work about the importance of preserving remaining wilderness areas and the wildlife that inhabits them. His sense of urgency about the plight of our planet has driven him to use his art to inform and encourage others to act now, before it becomes too late. Primarily a lens-based artist, he has increasingly brought his photographic images into photogravure, woodblock, inkjet, screen printing and mixed media as a way to further explore these ideas.

looks so much like an experience I had at the Glacial Logoon in Iceland. Gorgeous. Say hi to the gang at Shepherd & Maudsleigh for me!

What a fantastic print! The color of the blue iceberg works so well against the black and white.
