In addition to trying out my little 3D Press today, I also wanted to try using the Tetra Packaging from a juice drinking box to make an intaglio plate. I only recently came across this idea for plate making.
So I gathered my supplies and created a little sketch,
and got to work.
Inking was a real challenge. I am not sure if the waxy surface was too sticky for the old ink I was using up, and perhaps on my next try, I will loosen the ink up a bit more. I do know that for now I cannot see getting a consistent edition from this type of plate.
I probably over worked the inking just because I am use to zinc and copper plates.
I was pleasantly surprised that the package seams folds didn’t interfere with the image.
And it did not deteriorate after a few prints which I was expecting due to its thin laminated layers. But I think maybe next time I will laminate it to some card stock or something so I get a bit more embossing.
The 3D Press is sweet, but I was afraid to tighten the rollers too much due to its plastic construction and so I didn’t get the pressure I should probably of had to get a good image.
I did 7 runs.
This was the best print of the day:
