From Oaxaca to Portland

I’m a Japanese-American printmaker living and producing art in Oaxaca, Mexico since 2011. I pulled my first print in 1999 at the University of Puget Sound and continued with print arts in Seattle. During shelter in place, I’ve been in Portland, Oregon since mid-March with no access to the plethora of presses, collectives and printmaking studios that I collaborate with in Oaxaca. So I’ve been printing woodcuts and linocuts with washi, baren, wooden spoon and brayer in the bedroom.
