Roberta Feoli De Lucia for “Print Day in May 2022”

Roberta Feoli De Lucia is an Artist, professor and printmaker originally from Benevento, the city of witches in the south of Italy. After the Art School, the license as a freelance journalist and graduated as an actress at the stable company of her city, she approached the desire to continue studies in the artistic field. Her family founded the oldest weekly in the Sannio and Feoli grew up hopping among the smells and noises of a typography. Graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, she also has time to experience the Erasmus project in Granada, Spain, where she approaches the practical work of managing an artistic space and a print shop. From 2013 to 2022 she was printshop manager of Scuola Internazionale di Grafica Venezia and teach engraving, direct and indirect techniques, sustainable printing and artist’s book. Very active artist, she exhibits all over the world and also deals with writing reviews and texts for artists and engravers. In 2018, thanks to an invitation from Boston Printmakers and Mixit Print Studio, she spent a period in the USA as a guest artist and lectured at various universities and art schools. At the same time, she was also offered the opportunity to follow the teachings and mission of Zea Mays Printmaking, becoming the first Italian to return home with a further specialization in the less toxic techniques. During the lockdown, together with Anna Benedini, she organized a series of live weekly appointments called: #IOSTAMPOACASA, in which collected the unexpected and simple solutions for printing at home in an extreme situation and with little means. The absolutely free videos involved a large number of participants and inspired many to take advantage of the time at home to create, in any way! From October 2020 Feoli build a series of online meetings called: “La Stamperia Online” dedicated to the same theme for the Scuola with guest artists and lessons focused on the most sustainable systems of artistic processing at home. Feoli’s work try to respectful the environment and the health of the artist and this has become the path that accompanies classes and appointments with the artist. One of the experiences she prefers to share is about how to transform the milk carton for breakfast into the origin of a series of relief art prints or intaglio prints that give space for reuse and creativity. In the occasion of “Print day in May 2022”, Feoli De Lucia will organize a live instagram in which she will print a paraffin cardboard for food use as matrix with Akua inks and using a pasta puller. The matrix will be made at the moment with the dry point technique and the artist will briefly describe the passages that characterize the work. The simplest, highest quality way to safely print at home.

Printmaker / Artist / Professor From the city of witches, Benevento, specialized in Art Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. She experimented with managing a print shop during Erasmus at the Facultad de Bellas Artes Alonso Cano in Granada and continued her studies at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice where she became print shop manager for more than ten years, an historical reality with which the collaboration continues on projects with foreign universities and international programmes. In 2018 she was a Guest Artist by invitation of Mixit Print Studio and Boston Printmakers in various US universities and print shops and also became the first Italian to obtain a specialization in the less toxic techniques at Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence for which at the moment she is an online teacher. Additionally, she is an external consultant for Shepherd & Maudsleigh Studio West Newton. Member of the "People of Print" community, she is a very active supporter of the possibilities of respectful and sustainable printing and has been organizing courses and conferences on the topic for years.
