Mission Gallery in Cambria, California is hosting award-winning printmaker, Monique Wales, as she demonstrates both carving and printing two different linocut relief techniques for Print Day in May.  Demos will run from 1-5PM on both Saturday & Sunday. Monique will take visitors through the step-by-step process of both traditional multi-block relief with her new-for-the-occasion “Radiata Moon”, as well as the reduction-method and selective inking she is most known for with the in-process “Apantesis ornata”.

In addition to the two small, yet beautiful prints she’ll be pulling with Mission’s own etching press, Monique will be unveiling two new large works completed in late April to help celebrate PDIM.

Working primarily in relief and intaglio printmaking, Monique Wales' artwork is largely nature-inspired, particularly by the magnificent mountain areas in and around Yosemite, her home, and throughout the Western United States. She hopes to impart to her audience the importance of wild spaces and shine a light on their increasingly threatened inhabitants. She strives to bring the feelings of peacefulness, serenity and wonder she experiences when witnessing the world outside our walls.
