I have been traveling and am now setting up for my annual workshop in Florence, Italy. Since I was unable to create a work today I am especially humbled to be submitting this tribute to Michael McCabe, (Feb 8, 1961- April 3, 2023).  Michael was a major player in the printmaking world with followers across the USA. He was thrilled about the 24 artists he was scheduled to assist in 12 printing sessions during Monothon Print Week, April 1-8 for MONOTHON Santa Fe 2023. Less than a week before the start of Monothon Michael became ill and was taken to the hospital. He passed away a week later. The outpouring of love for Michael McCabe and the support system of the Santa Fe printmaking community was overwhelming, covering his sessions as we moved through Monothon Print Week. My own session as a participating artist was the morning of April 4. I was so looking forward to working with Michael for the very first time. Instead I printed my own images in his shop. “My Tree In His Space” was the final impression of three I pulled that morning and was also my contribution to MONOTHON Santa Fe 2023. It is now in the collection of the McCabe family.
