Discovering the Paradox of Printmaking… Peace and Suspense

This is Brenda Brown, new to Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. My newly renovated studio, Northwest Nature Arts, is now ready for me and visitors to use for creating and learning. I have had the privilege to experience and teach many art forms: painting, metalworking, and now printmaking. I am still a beginner, and have been learning from online blogs, and have taken several courses from master printers. I have a decent collection of Speedball tools and Cranfield/Caligo and Akua inks. Adding to my paper collection as it comes on sale; I suppose the collections never are complete! It is exciting to teach someone how to get started when they are not confident of their drawing or design skills, but they have the desire and that is all that’s needed. I love it when children and adults design a simple block, then pull a print and they are amazed with their work! Here’s to the innovators and sponsors behind events like #printdayinmay–thank you for your energy and inspiration!
