Homage Estelle

“The beginning is the most important part of the work” – Plato

My “Print Day in May” was spent christening my new studio space and the 75-year-old Charles Brand Etching Press, the center piece of the press room in the emerging Canal Street Studios in Lawrence, MA.

The press was procured from its previous owner Estelle Laschever a fellow monotype printmaker from Connecticut. Estelle believes that every color has its own sound, and this can be seen in her work that she pulled on the press for over 20 years.

Today I pay homage to Estelle by using her works as an inspiration of my piece. It only felt right that it was the first piece to be pulled from the press in its new home at Canal Street Studios.

Cheers to you Estelle and new beginnings!

wonderful!
