Hullo, my name is Sonya Hender and I am based in Port Elliot and own the Strand Gallery in South Australia. We work closely with Union Street Printmakers who are an amazing group under the fun leadership of Simone Tippett. it is a cold and stormy day here today, just perfect for snuggling in the studio and giving one of my favourite plates a whirl! The nautilus with its protective shell, resilience and growth seems appropriate at this time. It is a photo-polymer plate created at a workshop with Di Longley at Studio Bowden in 2019. I have digitally printed a background on Awagami Japanese washi paper and lined it up with the plate which was inked with cranfield coal black, easy wash ink. My whippet Kindle was the perfect companion. Hope you all have a wonderful ‘Print Day in May 2020’!
