Experimental printmaking

A 3 dimensional paper construction from engraved lino
For Print Day in May, I am showing an experimental and slightly different approach to printmaking, using multiples to create dimension. I construct my images from engraved lino, papercuts and found text to create a paper sculpture in 3 dimension. This version of "Arachne", taken from the Roman poets Ovid's "Metamorphosis", shows the mortal Arachne transformed into a spider and doomed to spin for eternity. I have taken liberties in my interpretation of this mythical creature and used engraved hands/fingers to create the legs. A slightly novel interpretation!
